General Information:
This 4-days-per-week coral reef restoration program offers an immersive conservation experience for backpackers passionate about ocean sustainability. Located in Gili Nanggu, West Lombok, it focuses on restoring coral ecosystems through coral planting, monitoring, underwater cleanup, and community-based conservation practices.
Participants will deepen their understanding of coral reef systems, their ecological value, and the challenges posed by climate change and human activity. By working alongside local communities and marine experts, you will directly contribute to improving reef health and enhancing the resilience of marine biodiversity in one of the world’s most important coral regions.
Code of Conduct:
Follow all instructions from certified dive instructors and local guides.
Respect marine life; no touching, collecting, or disturbing coral and wildlife.
Maintain buoyancy control to avoid physical damage to reefs.
Do not dispose of any waste in the ocean or dive areas.
Respect cultural values, fellow participants, and local communities.
Rules:
No diving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
No solo diving unless certified and approved.
Follow the buddy system at all times.
Immediately report any discomfort or safety concern.
Adhere to the 18–24 hour no-fly rule after diving.
Instructors have the authority to restrict participation if safety protocols are not met.

Day-1: Arrival & Orientation
Upon arrival, participants will be welcomed with an orientation session conducted by the local team, followed by an introduction to marine protected areas, coral reef ecology, and the basic principles of scuba diving. Depending on arrival time, breakfast or lunch will be provided. The day concludes with free time to explore the surroundings, interact with the local community, and settle into the accommodation.

Requirements
Minimum age: 18 years old (depending on the certification agency).
Participants must be physically fit and free from serious medical conditions (heart disease, asthma, epilepsy, recent surgeries, or chronic ear/sinus issues).
Must complete a medical questionnaire before diving. A doctor’s clearance may be required.
No alcohol or recreational drugs 24 hours before diving.
Must listen carefully to dive instructor’s briefing and safety instructions.
Certified divers must bring proof of certification (Open Water or higher).
Non-certified participants can only join Introductory/Discovery dives under close supervision.
Must wait at least 18–24 hours after diving before flying to avoid decompression sickness.

Once you arrive at our base camp (https://maps.app.goo.gl/BCNXERqYgn91Qvn38), a full orientation on conservation protocols, local customs, and safety procedures will be conducted.
Availability
Summer season (April – October). Minimum stay: 1 week. Maximum stay: 8 weeks. (Extensions possible based on mutual agreement).

Accommodation: A private room is provided in a local Indonesian home set in a peaceful environment, conveniently located near the coral restoration site in Gili Nanggu.
Meals: Participants will receive three home-cooked meals daily prepared by local families, with access to a kitchen for preparing additional meals if desired.
Laundry: Laundry services are available nearby at an affordable rate with easy and convenient access.
Certificate: A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the program to acknowledge your contribution to coral reef restoration and marine conservation efforts.
Beverages: Complimentary tea or coffee is provided daily for your comfort and refreshment.
Scuba Gear and Boat Petrol: All necessary scuba diving equipment and boat petrol are included to support field activities related to coral monitoring, restoration work, and exploration around the restoration site. Safety checks and equipment maintenance are conducted regularly to ensure a smooth and secure experience.
Exclude
Participants are responsible for their own flights and local transportation, including airport transfers and scooter rentals. While airport or harbor pickup is not directly provided, we are happy to assist in coordinating transportation through our trusted car and scooter rental partners.
Scooter rentals can be arranged separately and are not covered in the program cost.
Accommodation outside the official program dates is not provided.

Internet access is available at an affordable rate, with basic Wi-Fi provided for communication and progress updates.
Travel insurance must be arranged individually by each participant.
